Last week, a couple of grad students came to Tirimbina and asked for Emmanuel's help (he's the resident bat expert in the blue shirt). One of them is a vet, and the other two are microbiologists. They needed to find a house that had bats in it to catch the bats, take blood samples from them all, and dissect a few to check them for Dengue. We (I tagged along) put up nets around two houses and caught around thirty of the bats that were coming out of the roof. They took blood samples from the families living in the homes and checked any standing water for mosquito larvae as well. I'm excited to see their results!
